SERVICES

R&R was founded to provide the skills and services to preserve vintage automobiles. We provide a broad range of skills necessary to preserve a great original car, restore a vehicle to it’s “as built” configuration, and continued service to keep them on the road. The process to repair this era car is unique and typically varies from project to project. The work we undertake in-house requires a variety of skills across many disciplines. We undertake the vast majority of the restoration process in-house ranging from major mechanical components rebuilds, parts fabrication/refinishing, welding, disassembly/reassembly, and testing. For the services we do not have under our roof we have a network of trusted vendors we routinely work with to handle exterior paint/bodywork, upholstery, trim and hardware plating, and specialty machine work

Our in-house capabilities and relationships with our vendors allow us to handle any scope of the restoration and preservation process.

1955 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Gullwing

An incredible car with an incredible story. This two owner Gullwing has been sitting since 1974 with the second owner. It is DB190 Graphite Gray over special order 1079 Green leather with factory Rudge wheel option. Odometer currently reads 64,000 original miles. The amount of originality on this car is astounding, and our mission is to preserve it’s originality while performing a mechanical recommissioning. All major mechanical components of the car are thoroughly inspected, cleaned, and rebuilt as necessary. We are strictly cleaning and preserving what original finishes are still intact, and maintaining as much of the original components as possible. Although the preservation process can be tedious, this car warrants the focus on preservation over restoration.

1958 Mercedes-Benz 300SL Roadster

This project is a great example of the preservation mindset. This 300SL still retains the majority of original factory details, highly original interior, and one repaint in the original color of DB050. Our scope of work was to perform an evaluation of the car, determine the extent of originality, and perform any necessary restoration work to prepare it for an upcoming vintage rally. When we approach a job of this nature, we first establish what components and finishes are original. This guides our process on what needs to preserved, what needs replacing, and what restoration work is necessary to repair and refinish existing components.

1968 Porsche 911

Goal for the project was a complete engine rebuild to “S” specs, while maintaining factory original appearance. This project started with a considerable amount of research to determine what performance upgrades were possible, without radically modifying the stock engine and appearance. The engine was stripped down, evaluated, and prepped for the various machine processes. All engine sheet metal was stripped and repaired, prepped for paint, and refinished as original. All hardware was prepped and plated to original finish. Carburetors rebuilt and jetted to performance specs.

  • Engine upgrades included:

  • 2.2L S spec pistons and cylinders

  • Cam grind to “Solex” spec

  • Machining of the original cylinder heads to match 2.2L bore, rebuilt with larger valves

  • Porting of intakes and cylinder heads

  • Rebuild of original Weber carbs and jetted to match performance increase

  • Rebuild of all external engine components
